Scorpion Pepper Cheddar (10 oz. avg.)
DOMESTIC. Intensely spicy, domestic Cheddar with the extreme heat of scorpion peppers mixed throughout. Caution: very, very hot!
Our hottest spicy cheese! The Trinidad scorpion pepper is among the most piquant peppers in the world. It is indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago. The “scorpion” peppers are referred to as such because the pointed end of the pepper is said to resemble a scorpion’s stinger.
The scorpion pepper was, for three years, ranked the most pungent (“hot”) pepper in the world according to Guinness World Records!
“Is it too spicy?” Only your mouth knows for sure, but we can pretty confidently state that the answer is probably “yes!”
Please note: each brick of Scorpion Pepper Cheddar cheese is approximately 10 ounces, but they are cut at a random weight, so some cheeses may weigh a little more or a little less than this average. By purchasing, you agree that you are paying for a random weight portion of cheese at a flat unit price.
Ingredients
Pasteurized milk, cultures, salt, less than 1%: enzymes, annatto (color), ground scorpion chili pepper.
Scott –
This cheese tastes great. Then the heat reaches in and grabs you! Hot in the back of the throat, on the tongue and lips and lingers for awhile. With townhouse or trisquit crackers, its even better. Cut thin and in small sections allows you to get the affects you’d like without being overwhelming. I don’t eat peppers very often so this kind of does a smack face on you.
