Low Lactose & Lactose Free Cheeses
Did you know? Many cheeses are naturally low in lactose and lactose free. Lactose is found mostly in whey, which is more present in fresh cheeses; in cheeses intended to be aged, the whey is drained first. Additionally, the longer a cheese ages, the more that any lactose which is still present is the cheese gets broken down and transformed into less-harmful lactic acid, making aged cheeses much safer to eat for lactose intolerant individuals.
